The challenge
Blycolin, an international specialist in textile services for the hospitality sector, has always felt a strong sense of responsibility when it comes to sustainable business practices. But like many growing companies, their sustainability efforts were scattered across countries and departments.
When the CSRD appeared on the radar, Nicolet (ESG Manager) realized it was time to take a serious step forward.
“We’ve always had a heart for sustainability and plenty of sustainability-related data,” she explains. “But we’re more hands-on than focused on documenting and formalizing what we do. On top of that, we needed a centralised approach so all countries could collaborate more effectively.”
Internally, the sense of urgency was growing but the path forward was still unclear.
The solution
Through a previous collaboration with one of our network partners, Blycolin came into contact with The Overview Effect. Sustainability lead Nicolet recognized that the company was facing a growing set of demands, from CSRD to complex client questionnaires, and was looking for structure and clarity.
Here’s what The Overview Effect supported Blycolin with:
-
Turning strategy into policy and action
We helped translate Blycolin’s sustainability ambitions into concrete policies, including emission reduction, procurement, and governance.
-
Clarity and guidance on data-related challenges
We provided guidance on what data would be needed for future reporting, supported the development of a reporting manual, helped interpret emission data, and advised on methodology and calculations.
-
Training and awareness-building
We delivered an ESG training session for the German team and helped raise internal awareness around the need for a more structured sustainability approach.
-
Developing policies and frameworks
Together, we worked on key policy documents such as the internal and external Code of Conduct, health & safety policy, environmental and water policy, and the whistleblower policy, with attention to both regulatory requirements and practical implementation.
-
On-demand support
Whether it was a client request or a technical discussion on emission factors, Blycolin could count on fast, expert support.
Blycolin needed support to build a structure that would make their ESG work future-proof and to be ready for upcoming reporting demands.
“The Overview Effect gave us a backbone,” says Nicolet. “We can now respond to client questions with much more confidence, and there’s a shared internal understanding of where we’re headed.”
The results
-
From fragmented to structured
What was once scattered across spreadsheets and siloed knowledge is now aligned and accessible without becoming bureaucratic.
-
From obligation to conviction
While legal pressure may have been the trigger, the result is a stronger internal commitment to ESG.
-
From individual to collective
What started as a solo effort has become an organization-wide mindset shift, thanks to phased implementation and critical conversations.
Conclusion
From fragmented ESG efforts to a company-wide sustainability strategy
